he French national Ministry of Education has legal authority over all aspects of curriculum and assessments. It mandates the number of hours students must spend in each subject at each grade level.
Some functions are delegated to 28 academies, which are regional administrative districts. They are responsible for developing and grading brevet exams for example. Individual teachers are free to choose their own instructional techniques.
Our lycée is a French state school. It's called a cité scolaire since we welcome students aged from 11 /12 to 22. Our school contains a collège, a lycée and BTS classes.
Collège( lower secondary school).

fter completing primary school, students move on to the collège, where they spend the next four years. From 6th to 3rd form (the US equivalent of 6th through 9th grade / from year 7 to year 10 in G.B.).
There are three or four classes for each level. There are 25 to 30 pupils per class. |

|||||||
These classes are located on the first floor of our main building.
Our pupils are taught general academic subjects: French, maths, physics, biology, history, geography, civics, P.E., art, music and they also begin a first foreign language ( English or German). They'll study a second foreign language after the first two years. (Spanish, German, English). Some subjects are not compulsory such as Latin or Ancient Greek.
By the end of collège, our students have completed the general prescribed common courses and will sit for the brevet exam in three subjects: French, maths, and history / geography. The brevet is awarded on the basis of exam results plus classroom performance in all subjects during the last two years of college.

tudents are entitled at least in theory, to attend all higher education institutions.
When leaving Maurice Ravel, our students usually choose to enter degree programs that match their bac, or join pretigious" classes preparatoires" or will enroll in a two year BTS course. |
Our BTS classes |
||||||||
BTS PROFESSIONS IMMOBILIERES
A two year course in real estate will give our students a really appreciated diploma called B.T.S. ( short for brevet de technicien superieur)
52% of our candidates have just passed technological bacccalauréats or come from university.
For two years, they'll study law, economics, management, real estate techniques, accountancy and languages (French, English and Spanish).
They'll conduct work assignments in an estate agency or with a managing agent one day a week and they'll have to carry out work placements, in first year and in second year. These placements are compulsory and are part of the curriculum. They'll give our students experience, expertise and the know how in transaction, management and co ownership...
Presenting the tasks performed at the agency to a board of teachers and professionals will be a part of the final oral examination.
CAREER PROSPECTS | ||||||||
They'll thus become high level technicians in a well defined area: skilled realtors or managing agents.
Some may choose to gain more qualification and to study for a third year in a I.U.T. (Institute of technology).
